- First name: Raymond Martin - Last name: Martin - Email address: REMOVED - Phone number(s): - Postal code: - City: Montreal - State or province: Quebec - Country: Canada - Organization(s) you work for or study at (please supply the name and city for each organization): Rhythmous Systems - Fields of interest (e.g. computer linguistics, numerical analysis, business software, medicine, bioinformatics): Computational science/physics, intelligent systems, natural language processing, signal processing. - Have you written any Lisp-related papers? If so, please supply bibliographical references (and URL's, if possible). No. - Have you developed or participated in the development of any Lisp-related programs or libraries? If so, please supply a URL, if possible. Yes. - Lisp variants you have used (e.g. Common Lisp, Scheme, Dylan): Common Lisp, Lush, Gamma - Lisp variants you're currently using or intend to use in the near future: Lush - Lisp implementations you have used (e.g. CMUCL, Lispworks, Allegro Common Lisp): AllegroCL, CMUCL, CLisp, Gamma, Lush, Xlispstat - Lisp implementations you're currently using or intend to use in the near future: Lush - Computer platforms on which you're using or deploying Lisp: Linux, QNX - Number of years of experience with Lisp: 9 years - Experience with other programming languages (please supply the number of years and the name of the language): C: 11 years, C++: 6 years; Fortran: 1 year; Pascal: 2 years; Java: 1 Year; Assembler: 1 Year; Tcl: 1 year - Total number of years of programming experience: 13 years - Do you use Lisp: - at work (if so, how much) - for study (if so, how much) - as a hobby (if so, how much) At work Lisp is my main research & development tool of choice. - Are you using Lisp as much as you would like to? If not, why not? I want to use it more, but just have not put in the time. - Do you see any obstacles to further Lisp growth (if so, what is the biggest obstacle in your opinion)? There is a general lack of education about language differences and uses in academia today which tends to favor industry supported, sub-optimal languages like C/C++/Java/Perl/Python. The biggest obstacle is the lack of funds to help Lisp developers add to the base language itself. - Would you be interested in a Lisp-related job or contract work? Definitely. - Is your organization interested in hiring Lisp programmers? I work alone as a consultant. If my business expands, then as need arose I would definitely consider someone with good knowledge of Lisp as a candidate over other languages. - Are you currently participating in Lisp-related meetings? If so, where and how often? If not, would you be interested in such meetings? Recently a Lisp/Scheme user group started here, but I have not attended yet. I may go at some time. - Do you know any other Lispers who might be willing to fill in this questionnaire (please supply their names and email-addresses if you do)? No. - Do you know people who may be interested in learning Lisp (please supply their names and email-addresses if you do)? No.
