- First name: Gary - Last name: Klimowicz - Email address: REMOVED - Home page: <> - Phone number(s): 503-816-1526 - Postal code: 97219 - City: Portland - Country: USA - Organization(s) you work for or study at (please supply the name and city for each organization): Corillian Corporation, Hillsboro OR 97124 - Fields of interest (e.g. computer linguistics, numerical analysis, business software, medicine, bioinformatics): business software mostly - Have you written any Lisp-related papers? If so, please supply bibliographical references (and URL's, if possible). <> - Have you developed or participated in the development of any Lisp-related programs or libraries? If so, please supply a URL, if possible. I have, but it was a long time ago. I'm working on some simple Lisp programs today, but nothing worthy of note. - Lisp variants you have used (e.g. Common Lisp, Scheme, Dylan): Common Lisp. - Lisp variants you're currently using or intend to use in the near future: Common Lisp. - Lisp implementations you have used (e.g. CMUCL, Lispworks, Allegro Common Lisp): Allegro Common Lisp, CLISP, Steel Bank Common Lisp (somewhat limited exposure). - Lisp implementations you're currently using or intend to use in the near future: Allegro Common Lisp, Steel Bank Common Lisp. - Computer platforms on which you're using or deploying Lisp: Windows, Linux (Fedora) - Number of years of experience with Lisp: About one, I suppose. - Do you use Lisp: - at work (if so, how much) yes, a little, but have to do it under the radar. - for study (if so, how much) not really - as a hobby (if so, how much) yes, about 5-10 hours a week. - Are you using Lisp as much as you would like to? If not, why not? Not nearly as much as I would like to. I work in a company that is, shall we say, pre-Lisp in its technical sensibilities. It's almost a point of derision here that I am a Lisper. There is only one other person here in this company of 200+ people who has any appreciation of it. We're Greenspunning the hell out of everything we do. - Do you see any obstacles to further Lisp growth (if so, what is the biggest obstacle in your opinion)? Lack of common language extensions, libraries and tools that are de facto standards for "modern" technologies: XML, multiprocessing, networking, etc. - Would you be interested in a Lisp-related job or contract work? You bet! - Is your organization interested in hiring Lisp programmers? Not by anyone in a position to do so. - Are you currently participating in Lisp-related meetings? If so, where and how often? If not, would you be interested in such meetings? No. I would be interested in such meetings, but the Lisp community in Portland Oregon is somewhat small.
