- First name: Duncan   - Last name: Rose   - Email address: REMOVED   - Home page: None written yet, but it will be at http://www.robotcat.demon.co.uk when done.   - Phone number(s): Mobile: 07719 599717 Home: +44 (0) 151 523 6542   - Postal code: L9 6ED   - City: Liverpool   - Country: UK   - Organization(s) you work for or study at (please supply the name and city for each organization): N. Brown PLC, Manchester   - Fields of interest (e.g. computer linguistics, numerical analysis, business software, medicine, bioinformatics): Interactive development environments, business software, ecommerce, AI, operating systems   - Have you written any Lisp-related papers? If so, please supply bibliographical references (and URL's, if possible). No   - Have you developed or participated in the development of any Lisp-related programs or libraries? If so, please supply a URL, if possible. I'm working on a McCLIM back-end for OS X but nothing that's been finished (yet!)   - Lisp variants you have used (e.g. Common Lisp, Scheme, Dylan): CL   - Lisp variants you're currently using or intend to use in the near future: CL   - Lisp implementations you have used (e.g. CMUCL, Lispworks, Allegro Common Lisp): CMUCL, SBCL, Lispworks, OpenMCL   - Lisp implementations you're currently using or intend to use in the near future: OpenMCL, Lispworks   - Computer platforms on which you're using or deploying Lisp: OS X   - Number of years of experience with Lisp: 0.25 years effort over 1 year duration I'd say. So I'm a little light on the experience front.   - Do you use Lisp: - at work (if so, how much) - for study (if so, how much) - as a hobby (if so, how much) Currently as a hobby only. I think I could probably develop tools that could introduce Lisp to my workplace, but since my experience is limiting at the moment I have no intention of attempting this until there's at least a chance it won't fail due to my own incompetence!   - Are you using Lisp as much as you would like to? If not, why not? No, since I don't use it at work. Unfortunately (from the point of view of using Lisp) family commitments tend to reduce the amount of hobby time I can spend too.   - Do you see any obstacles to further Lisp growth (if so, what is the biggest obstacle in your opinion)? I think Lisp usage is on the upswing; in many respects I hope it doesn't explode until I have more experience ;-)   - Would you be interested in a Lisp-related job or contract work? Yes, but I don't think I'd be qualified yet.   - Is your organization interested in hiring Lisp programmers? Unfortunately not - CICS Cobol, yes. Java if you're lucky (in this context)   - Are you currently participating in Lisp-related meetings? If so, where and how often? If not, would you be interested in such meetings? I'm on the uk-lisper's mailing list, but haven't been to any meetings yet. I'd be interested in meetings (but Liverpool -> London is a bit of an inconvenience)   - Do you know any other Lispers who might be willing to fill in this questionnaire (please supply their email-address if you do)?   -- I also have experience in C, C++, Java, VB, amongst others and have been developing software for 15 years.
